But he did not humble himself before the Lord like his father Manasseh humbled himself;  instead, Amon increased his guilt.


He did what was evil in the sight of the Lord his God and did not humble himself  before the prophet Jeremiah at the Lord’s command.


So Moses and Aaron went in to Pharaoh and told him, ‘This is what the Lord, the God of the Hebrews, says: How long will you refuse to humble yourself before me? Let my people go, that they may worship me.


I will punish the world for its evil, and wicked people for their iniquities. I will put an end to the pride of the arrogant and humiliate the insolence of tyrants.


You said to yourself, ‘I will ascend to the heavens; I will set up my throne above the stars of God. I will sit on the mount of the gods’ assembly, in the remotest parts of the North.  ,


But if the wicked man is shown favour, he does not learn righteousness. In a righteous land he acts unjustly and does not see the majesty of the  Lord.


Your Majesty, the Most High God gave sovereignty,  greatness, glory, and majesty to your predecessor Nebuchadnezzar.

For John came to you in the way of righteousness,   and you didn’t believe him. Tax collectors and prostitutes did believe him; but you, when you saw it, didn’t even change your minds then and believe him.


And that servant who knew his master’s will and didn’t prepare himself or do it   will be severely beaten.


If you know these things, you are blessed if you do them.


So it is sin to know the good and yet not do it.


But he gives greater grace. Therefore he says: God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble.   ,
