2 Under the influence of  the wine, Belshazzar gave orders to bring in the gold and silver vessels  that his predecessor  Nebuchadnezzar had taken from the temple in Jerusalem, so that the king and his nobles, wives, and concubines could drink from them.

‘Don’t be afraid,’ David said to him, ‘since I intend to show you kindness for the sake of your father Jonathan. I will restore to you all your grandfather Saul’s fields, and you will always eat meals at my table.’


He also carried off from there all the treasures of the Lord’s temple and the treasures of the king’s palace, and he cut into pieces all the gold articles that King Solomon of Israel had made  for the Lord’s sanctuary, just as the Lord had predicted.


The captain of the guards took away the firepans and sprinkling basins #– #whatever was gold or silver.


After her, he married Maacah daughter  , of Absalom. She bore Abijah, Attai, Ziza, and Shelomith to him.


King Asa  also removed Maacah, his grandmother,  , from being queen mother because she had made an obscene image of Asherah. Asa chopped down her obscene image, then crushed it and burned it in the Kidron Valley.


In the spring  , Nebuchadnezzar sent for him and brought him to Babylon along with the valuable articles of the Lord’s temple. Then he made Jehoiachin’s brother Zedekiah king over Judah and Jerusalem.


He took everything to Babylon #– #all the articles of God’s temple, large and small, the treasures of the Lord’s temple, and the treasures of the king and his officials.


He also took from the temple in Babylon the gold and silver articles of God’s house that Nebuchadnezzar had taken from the temple in Jerusalem and carried them to the temple in Babylon.  He released them from the temple in Babylon to a man named Sheshbazzar, the governor by the appointment of King Cyrus.


All nations will serve him, his son, and his grandson until the time for his own land comes, and then many nations and great kings will enslave him.


A sword is over the Chaldeans – this is the  Lord’s declaration – against those who live in Babylon, against her officials, and against her wise men.


The captain of the guards took away the bowls, firepans, sprinkling basins, pots, lampstands, pans, and drink offering bowls   #– #whatever was gold or silver.


The Lord handed King Jehoiakim of Judah over to him, along with some of the vessels from the house of God.  Nebuchadnezzar carried them to the land of Babylon,  , to the house of his god,  and put the vessels in the treasury of his god.


There is a man in your kingdom who has a spirit of the holy gods in him.  In the days of your predecessor he was found to have insight, intelligence, and wisdom like the wisdom of the gods. Your predecessor, King Nebuchadnezzar, appointed him chief of the magicians, mediums, Chaldeans, and diviners. Your own predecessor, the king,


Then Daniel was brought before the king. The king said to him, ‘Are you Daniel, one of the Judean exiles that my predecessor the king brought from Judah?


Your Majesty, the Most High God gave sovereignty,  greatness, glory, and majesty to your predecessor Nebuchadnezzar.


Instead, you have exalted yourself against the Lord of the heavens. The vessels from his house were brought to you, and as you and your nobles, wives, and concubines drank wine from them,  you praised the gods made of silver and gold, bronze, iron, wood, and stone, which do not see or hear or understand.  But you have not glorified the God who holds your life-breath in his hand and who controls the whole course of your life.  ,


So they brought in the gold  vessels that had been taken from the temple, the house of God in Jerusalem,  and the king and his nobles, wives, and concubines drank from them.


That very night Belshazzar the king of the Chaldeans was killed,


They drank the wine and praised their gods made of gold and silver, bronze, iron, wood, and stone.


His offering was one silver dish weighing 1.5 kilograms and one silver basin weighing 800 grams, measured by the standard sanctuary shekel, both of them full of fine flour mixed with oil for a grain offering;
