Daniel 5:12
16 Tagairtí Cros

A righteous person is careful in dealing with his neighbour, but the ways of the wicked lead them astray.

The one who has knowledge restrains his words, and one who keeps a cool head is a person of understanding.

Yes, you are wiser than Daniel;  no secret is hidden from you!

God gave these four young men knowledge and understanding  in every kind of literature and wisdom. Daniel also understood visions and dreams  of every kind.

The chief eunuch gave them names; he gave the name Belteshazzar to Daniel, Shadrach to Hananiah, Meshach to Mishael, and Abednego to Azariah.

The king said in reply to Daniel, whose name was Belteshazzar,  ‘Are you able to tell me the dream I had and its interpretation? ’

Then Daniel, whose name is Belteshazzar, was stunned for a moment, and his thoughts alarmed him. The king said, ‘Belteshazzar, don’t let the dream or its interpretation alarm you.’ Belteshazzar answered, ‘My lord, may the dream apply to those who hate you, and its interpretation to your enemies!

Finally Daniel, named Belteshazzar  after the name of my god #– #and a spirit of the holy gods is in him   #– #came before me. I told him the dream:

I’ve heard that you have a spirit of the gods in you, and that insight, intelligence, and extraordinary wisdom are found in you.

However, I have heard about you that you can give interpretations and solve problems. Therefore, if you can read this inscription and give me its interpretation, you will be clothed in purple, have a gold chain round your neck, and have the third highest position in the kingdom.’

Daniel  distinguished himself above the administrators and satraps because he had an extraordinary spirit,  so the king planned to set him over the whole realm.

The administrators and satraps, therefore, kept trying to find a charge against Daniel  regarding the kingdom. But they could find no charge or corruption,  for he was trustworthy, and no negligence or corruption was found in him.

I labour for this, striving  with his strength that works powerfully in me.
