12 ‘Don’t be afraid,  Daniel,’ he said to me, ‘for from the first day that you purposed to understand and to humble yourself before your God,  your prayers were heard. I have come because of your prayers.

Say to the cowardly: ‘Be strong; do not fear! Here is your God; vengeance is coming. God’s retribution is coming; he will save you.’


Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be afraid, for I am your God. I will strengthen you; I will help you; I will hold on to you with my righteous right hand.


Do not fear, you worm Jacob, you men  of Israel. I will help you’ – this is the  Lord’s declaration. Your Redeemer  is the Holy One of Israel.


At that time, when you call, the  Lord will answer; when you cry out, he will say, “Here I am.” If you get rid of the yoke among you, the finger-pointing and malicious speaking,


Even before they call, I will answer; while they are still speaking, I will hear.


He said to me, ‘Daniel, you are a man treasured by God.  , Understand the words that I’m saying to you. Stand on your feet,  for I have now been sent to you.’  After he said this to me, I stood trembling.


He said, ‘Don’t be afraid,  you who are  treasured by God.  Peace to you; be very strong! ’ As he spoke to me, I was strengthened and said, ‘Let my lord speak, for you have strengthened me.’


‘This is to be a permanent statute  for you: in the seventh month, on the tenth day of the month you are to practise self-denial  and do no work,  both the native and the foreigner  who resides among you.


It is a Sabbath  of complete rest for you,  and you must practise self-denial; it is a permanent statute.


‘You are to hold a sacred assembly on the tenth day of this seventh month and practise self-denial;  do not do any work.


Then Jesus told them, ‘Do not be afraid. Go and tell my brothers to leave for Galilee, and they will see me there.’


The angel told the women, ‘Don’t be afraid, because I know you are looking for Jesus who was crucified.


‘Don’t be alarmed,’ he told them. ‘You are looking for Jesus of Nazareth,  who was crucified. He has risen!  He is not here. See the place where they put him.


But the angel said to him, ‘Do not be afraid,  Zechariah, because your prayer has been heard.  Your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you will name him John.


Then the angel told her, ‘Do not be afraid, Mary,  for you have found favour with God.


But the angel said to them, ‘Don’t be afraid,  for look, I proclaim to you good news of great joy that will be for all the people:


‘Why are you troubled? ’   he asked them. ‘And why do doubts arise in your hearts?


and said, “Don’t be afraid, Paul. It is necessary for you to appear before Caesar. And indeed, God has graciously given you all those who are sailing with you.”


When I saw him, I fell at his feet like a dead man.  He laid his right hand on me and said, ‘Don’t be afraid. I am the First and the Last,
