Artaxerxes, king of kings,  to Ezra the priest, an expert in the law of the God of the heavens: Greetings.


#– #came up from Babylon. He was a scribe skilled in the law of Moses,  which the Lord, the God of Israel, had given. The king had granted him everything he requested  because the hand of the Lord his God was on him.


But Moses replied to the Lord, ‘Please, Lord, I have never been eloquent #– #either in the past or recently or since you have been speaking to your servant #– #because my mouth and my tongue are sluggish.’  ,


commanders of fifty and dignitaries, counsellors, cunning magicians,  and necromancers.


‘Therefore,’ he said to them, ‘every teacher of the law   who has become a disciple in the kingdom of heaven is like the owner of a house who brings out of his storeroom treasures new and old.’


‘What things? ’ he asked them. So they said to him, ‘The things concerning Jesus of Nazareth,  who was a prophet  powerful in action and speech  before God and all the people,


When they reached Ephesus  he left them there, but he himself entered the synagogue and debated with the Jews.


but he said farewell and added,  ‘I’ll come back to you again, if God wills.’  Then he set sail from Ephesus.


For he vigorously refuted the Jews in public, demonstrating through the Scriptures that Jesus is the Messiah.


While Apollos was in Corinth, Paul travelled through the interior regions and came to Ephesus. He found some disciples


There the centurion found an Alexandrian ship sailing for Italy and put us aboard.


Opposition arose, however, from some members of the Freedmen’s Synagogue, composed of both Cyrenians and Alexandrians, and some from Cilicia and Asia, and they began to argue with Stephen.


So Moses was educated in all the wisdom of the Egyptians and was powerful in his speech and actions.


What I am saying is this: One of you says, ‘I belong to Paul,’ or ‘I belong to Apollos,’  or ‘I belong to Cephas,’  or ‘I belong to Christ.’


Now about our brother Apollos:  I strongly urged him to come to you with the brothers, but he was not at all willing to come now. However, he will come when he has an opportunity.


Now, brothers and sisters,  I have applied these things to myself and Apollos  for your benefit, so that you may learn from us the meaning of the saying: ‘Nothing beyond what is written.’ The purpose is that none of you will be arrogant, favouring one person over another.


For it is said, ‘His letters are weighty and powerful, but his physical presence is weak and his public speaking amounts to nothing.’


Let the word of Christ dwell richly among you, in all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another through psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs,  singing to God with gratitude in your hearts.


Diligently help Zenas the lawyer and Apollos  on their journey, so that they will lack  nothing.
