When Joseph came to his brothers, they stripped off Joseph’s robe, the long-sleeved robe that he had on.


Now Israel loved Joseph more than his other sons because Joseph was a son born to him in his old age,  and he made a long-sleeved robe  for him.


They sent the long-sleeved robe to their father and said, ‘We found this. Examine it. Is it your son’s robe or not? ’


Instead, he called to the servant who waited on him, ‘Get this away from me, throw her out, and bolt the door behind her! ’


Ehud escaped by way of the porch, closing and locking the doors of the upstairs room behind him.


‘Are they not finding and dividing the spoil – a girl or two  for each warrior, the spoil of coloured garments for Sisera, the spoil of an embroidered garment or two for my neck? ’
