Wasn’t it reported to my lord what I did when Jezebel slaughtered the Lord’s prophets? I hid a hundred of the prophets of the Lord, fifty men to a cave, and I provided them with food and water.


Then Jehu will put to death whoever escapes the sword of Hazael,  and Elisha will put to death whoever escapes the sword of Jehu.


At that time King Hazael  of Aram marched up and fought against Gath and captured it. Then he planned to attack Jerusalem.


So King Joash of Judah took all the items consecrated by himself and by his ancestors #– #Judah’s kings Jehoshaphat, Jehoram, and Ahaziah #– #as well as all the gold found in the treasuries of the Lord’s temple and in the king’s palace, and he sent them to King Hazael of Aram.  Then Hazael withdrew from Jerusalem.


King Hazael  of Aram oppressed Israel throughout the reign of Jehoahaz,


So the Lord’s anger burned against Israel,  and he handed them over to King Hazael  of Aram and to his son Ben-hadad  during their reigns.


Jehoahaz did not have an army left, except for fifty horsemen, ten chariots, and ten thousand foot soldiers, because the king of Aram had destroyed them,  making them like dust at threshing.


At that time, starting from Tirzah, Menahem attacked Tiphsah,  all who were in it, and its territory because they wouldn’t surrender.  He ripped open all the pregnant women.


Then she said, ‘Did I ask my lord for a son? Didn’t I say, “Do not lie to me? ” ’


Their children will be dashed to pieces before their eyes; their houses will be looted, and their wives raped.


Their bows will cut young men to pieces. They will have no compassion on offspring; they will not look with pity on children.


the roar of battle will rise against your people, and all your fortifications will be demolished in a day of war, like Shalman’s destruction of Beth-arbel. Mothers will be dashed to pieces along with their children.


Samaria  will bear her guilt because she has rebelled against her God. They will fall by the sword; their children will be dashed to pieces, and their pregnant women ripped open.


Israel, return to the Lord your God, for you have stumbled in your iniquity.


The Lord says: I will not relent from punishing the Ammonites for three crimes, even four, because they ripped open the pregnant women of Gilead in order to enlarge their territory.


Yet she became an exile; she went into captivity. Her children were also dashed to pieces at the head of every street. They cast lots for her dignitaries, and all her nobles were bound in chains.
