God heard the boy crying, and the  angel of God called to Hagar from heaven and said to her, ‘What’s wrong, Hagar? Don’t be afraid, for God has heard the boy crying from the place where he is.


‘What’s the matter? ’ the king asked her. ‘Sadly, I am a widow; my husband died,’ she said.


He answered, ‘If the Lord doesn’t help you, where can I get help for you? From the threshing-floor or the winepress? ’


A pronouncement  concerning the Valley of Vision: What’s the matter with you? Why have all of you gone up to the rooftops?


‘Can a woman forget her nursing child, or lack compassion for the child of her womb? Even if these forget, yet I will not forget you.


The hands of compassionate women have cooked their own children; they became their food during the destruction of my dear people.


As a result, fathers will eat their sons  within Jerusalem,  and sons will eat their fathers. I will execute judgements against you and scatter all your survivors to every direction of the wind.


You will eat the flesh of your sons; you will eat the flesh of your daughters.


Look, the days are coming   when they will say, “Blessed are the women without children, the wombs that never bore, and the breasts that never fed! ”


They called to the Danites, who turned to face them, and said to Micah, ‘What’s the matter with you that you mustered the men? ’


‘Hannah, why are you crying? ’ her husband, Elkanah, would ask. ‘Why won’t you eat? Why are you troubled? Am I not better to you than ten sons? ’
