23 But Naaman insisted, ‘Please, accept seventy kilograms.’  He urged Gehazi and then packed seventy kilograms of silver in two bags with two sets of clothing. Naaman gave them to two of his attendants who carried them ahead of Gehazi.

Please take my present that was brought to you, because God has been gracious to me and I have everything I need.’ So Jacob urged him until he accepted.


Then the king of Israel called for all the elders of the land and said, ‘Recognise  that this one is only looking for trouble,  for he demanded my wives, my children, my silver, and my gold, and I didn’t turn him down.’


Whenever they saw there was a large amount of silver in the chest, the king’s secretary  and the high priest would go and bag up and tally the silver found in the Lord’s temple.


However, they urged him to the point of embarrassment,  so he said, ‘Send them.’ They sent fifty men, who looked for three days but did not find him.


But Elisha said, ‘As the Lord lives,  in whose presence I stand, I will not accept it.’  Naaman urged him to accept it, but he refused.


Therefore, the king of Aram said, ‘Go, and I will send a letter with you to the king of Israel.’ So he went and took with him 350 kilograms  of silver, 70 kilograms  of gold, and ten sets of clothing.


Then one said, ‘Please come with your servants.’ ‘I’ll come,’ he answered.


A pronouncement  concerning the animals of the Negev: Through a land of trouble and distress, of lioness and lion, of viper and flying serpent, they carry their wealth on the backs of donkeys and their treasures on the humps of camels, to a people who will not help them.
