Then the city was broken into,  and all the warriors fled  at night by way of the city gate between the two walls near the king’s garden,  even though the Chaldeans surrounded the city. As the king made his way along the route to the Arabah,


The Chaldeans seized the king  and brought him up to the king of Babylon  at Riblah,  and they passed sentence on him.


You say, ‘No! We will escape on horses’ – therefore you will escape! – and, ‘We will ride on fast horses’ – but those who pursue you will be faster.


Afterwards #– #this is the Lord’s declaration #– #King Zedekiah of Judah, his officers, and the people #– #those in this city who survive the plague, the sword, and the famine #– #I will hand over to King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon,  to their enemies, yes, to those who intend to take their lives. As for you, you will not escape  from him but are certain to be captured and handed over to him. You will meet the king of Babylon eye to eye and speak face to face;  , you will go to Babylon.
