2 Kings 23:30 - Christian Standard Bible Anglicised

30 From Megiddo his servants carried his dead body in a chariot, brought him into Jerusalem, and buried him in his own tomb.  Then the common people  took Jehoahaz son of Josiah, anointed him, and made him king in place of his father.

Then all the people of Judah took Azariah,  , who was sixteen years old, and made him king in place of his father Amaziah.


The common people  killed  all who had conspired against King Amon, and they made his son Josiah  king in his place.


“Therefore, I will indeed gather you to your ancestors, and you will be gathered to your grave in peace.  Your eyes will not see all the disaster that I am bringing on this place.” ’ Then they reported  to the king.


Then his servants carried him to Jerusalem in a chariot and buried him in his ancestors’ tomb in the city of David.


After all this  that Josiah had prepared for the temple, King Neco of Egypt  marched up to fight at Carchemish  by the Euphrates, and Josiah went out to confront him.


So his servants took him out of the war chariot, carried him in his second chariot, and brought him to Jerusalem. Then he died, and they buried him in the tomb of his ancestors. All Judah and Jerusalem mourned  for Josiah.


Do not weep for the dead; do not mourn for him. Weep bitterly for the one who has gone away, for he will never return again and see his native land.


For this is what the Lord says concerning Shallum  son of Josiah, king of Judah, who became king in place of his father Josiah, and who has left this place: ‘He will never return here again,


‘As for you, take up a lament for the princes of Israel,
