Nevertheless, the Lord said to Jehu, ‘Because you have done well in carrying out what is right in my sight and have done to the house of Ahab all that was in my heart, four generations of your sons will sit on the throne of Israel.’


Then all the people of Judah took Azariah,  , who was sixteen years old, and made him king in place of his father Amaziah.


Jeroboam rested with his ancestors, the kings of Israel. His son Zechariah became king in his place.


In the twenty-seventh year of Israel’s King Jeroboam, Azariah  , son of Amaziah became king of Judah.


In the thirty-ninth year of Judah’s King Uzziah,  Shallum son of Jabesh became king; he reigned in Samaria  for a full month.


In the thirty-ninth year of Judah’s King Azariah, Menahem son of Gadi became king over Israel, and he reigned for ten years in Samaria.


In the fiftieth year of Judah’s King Azariah, Pekahiah son of Menahem became king over Israel in Samaria, and he reigned for two years.


Azariah rested with his ancestors and was buried with his ancestors in the city of David. His son Jotham became king in his place.


He did what was evil in the Lord’s sight as his predecessors had done.  He did not turn away from the sins Jeroboam son of Nebat had caused Israel to commit.


When a land is in rebellion, it has many rulers, but with a discerning and knowledgeable person, it endures.


Then the Lord said to him: Name him Jezreel,  , for in a little while I will bring the bloodshed of Jezreel on the house of Jehu and put an end to the kingdom of the house of Israel.


Isaac’s high places  will be deserted, and Israel’s sanctuaries will be in ruins; I will rise up against the house of Jeroboam with a sword.’
