9 Then he gathered all Judah and Benjamin, as well as those from the tribes of Ephraim, Manasseh, and Simeon who were residing among them, for they had defected to him from Israel in great numbers when they saw that the Lord his God was with him.

When his master saw that the Lord was with him and that the Lord made everything he did successful,


Israel is still in rebellion against the house of David today.


All Israel heard about the judgement the king had given, and they stood in awe of the king because they saw that God’s wisdom  was in him to carry out justice.


Some Manassites defected to David when he went with the Philistines to fight against Saul. However, they did not help the Philistines because the Philistine rulers sent David away after a discussion. They said, ‘It will be our heads if he defects to his master Saul.’


Those from every tribe of Israel who had determined in their hearts to seek the Lord their God followed the Levites to Jerusalem to sacrifice to the Lord, the God of their ancestors.


They were gathered in Jerusalem in the third month of the fifteenth year of Asa’s reign.


Jehoshaphat lived in Jerusalem, and once again he went out among the people from Beer-sheba to the hill country of Ephraim and brought them back to the Lord, the God of their ancestors.


Then the whole assembly of Judah with the priests and Levites, the whole assembly that came from Israel, the resident foreigners who came from the land of Israel, and those who were living in Judah, rejoiced.


‘Son of man, take a single stick and write on it:  Belonging to Judah and the Israelites associated with him. Then take another stick and write on it: Belonging to Joseph #– #the stick of Ephraim #– #and all the house of Israel associated with him.


So the church  throughout all Judea, Galilee, and Samaria had peace and was strengthened. Living in the fear of the Lord and encouraged by the Holy Spirit, it increased in numbers.


Saul realised  that the Lord was with David and that his daughter Michal loved him,
