For I have chosen  him so that he will command his children and his house after him to keep the way of the Lord by doing what is right and just. This is how the Lord will fulfil to Abraham what he promised him.’


Those from every tribe of Israel who had determined in their hearts to seek the Lord their God followed the Levites to Jerusalem to sacrifice to the Lord, the God of their ancestors.


He removed the pagan altars and the high places. He shattered their sacred pillars and chopped down their Asherah poles.


He also removed the high places and the shrines  from all the cities of Judah,  and the kingdom experienced peace under him.


They brought seven bulls, seven rams, seven lambs, and seven male goats as a sin offering for the kingdom, for the sanctuary, and for Judah. Then he told the descendants of Aaron, the priests, to offer them on the altar of the Lord.


Then Hezekiah ordered that the burnt offering be offered on the altar. When the burnt offerings began, the song of the Lord and the trumpets began, accompanied by the instruments of King David of Israel.


Then King Hezekiah and the officials told the Levites to sing praise to the Lord in the words of David and of the seer Asaph. So they sang praises with rejoicing and knelt low and worshipped.


Also, the power of God was at work in Judah to unite them  to carry out the command of the king and his officials by the word of the Lord.


whoever sets his whole heart on seeking God,  the Lord, the God of his ancestors, even though not according to the purification rules of the sanctuary.’


He built  the altar of the Lord and offered fellowship and thanksgiving sacrifices on it. Then he told Judah to serve the Lord, the God of Israel.


I ordered that the rooms be purified,  and I had the articles of the house of God restored there, along with the grain offering and frankincense.


For the Lord says to the house of Israel: Seek me and live!


But if it doesn’t please you to worship the Lord, choose for yourselves today: Which will you worship #– #the gods your ancestors worshipped beyond the River Euphrates or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you are living?  As for me and my family, we will worship the Lord.’


I told him that I am going to judge his family for ever because of the iniquity which he knows about: his sons are cursing God,  and he has not stopped them.
