Then Haman informed King Ahasuerus, ‘There is one ethnic group, scattered throughout the peoples in every province of your kingdom,  keeping themselves separate. Their laws are different from everyone else’s and they do not obey the king’s laws.  It is not in the king’s best interest to tolerate them.


I have struck down your children in vain; they would not accept discipline. Your own sword has devoured your prophets like a ravaging lion.


Then Amaziah said to Amos, ‘Go away, you seer!  Flee to the land of Judah. Earn your living  and give your prophecies there,


‘Jerusalem, Jerusalem,   who kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to her. How often I wanted to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks   under her wings, but you were not willing!


All the people answered, ‘His blood be on us  and on our children! ’


Be glad and rejoice, because your reward is great in heaven. For that is how they persecuted   the prophets who were before you.


and how our chief priests and leaders  handed him over to be sentenced to death,  and they crucified him.


When he saw that it pleased the Jews, he proceeded to arrest Peter too, during the Festival of Unleavened Bread.


Though he was delivered up according to God’s determined plan and foreknowledge, you used  lawless people to nail him to a cross and kill him.


You killed the source  of life, whom God raised from the dead; we are witnesses of this.


let it be known to all of you and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified and whom God raised from the dead #– #by him this man is standing here before you healthy.


The God of our ancestors raised up Jesus,  whom you had murdered by hanging him on a tree.


Which of the prophets did your ancestors not persecute?  They even killed those who foretold the coming of the Righteous One, whose betrayers and murderers  you have now become.


Nevertheless God was not pleased with most of them, since they were struck down in the wilderness.


On frequent journeys, I faced dangers from rivers, dangers from robbers,  dangers from my own people,  dangers from Gentiles, dangers in the city, dangers in the wilderness, dangers at sea, and dangers among false brothers;
