The Lord rewarded me according to my righteousness; he repaid me according to the cleanness of my hands.


So the Lord repaid me according to my righteousness, according to my cleanness  in his sight.


may you hear in heaven and act. May you judge your servants, condemning the wicked man by bringing what he has done on his own head and providing justice for the righteous by rewarding him according to his righteousness.


Remember me for this, my God, and don’t erase the deeds of faithful love I have done for the house of my God and for its services.


For he repays  a person according to his deeds, and he gives him what his conduct deserves.


Look, my father!  Look at the corner of your robe in my hand, for I cut it off, but I didn’t kill you. Recognise  that I’ve committed no crime or rebellion. I haven’t sinned against you even though you are hunting me down to take my life.


‘May the Lord judge between me and you, and may the Lord take vengeance on you for me, but my hand will never be against you.


You yourself have told me today what good you did for me: when the Lord handed me over to you, you didn’t kill me.


When a man finds his enemy, does he let him go unharmed?  , May the Lord repay you with good for what you’ve done for me today.


However, as the Lord is my witness, I will never lift my hand against the Lord’s anointed.  Instead, take the spear and the water jug by his head, and let’s go.’


David answered, ‘Here is the king’s spear; have one of the young men come over and get it.


But David said to Abishai, ‘Don’t destroy him, for who can lift a hand against the Lord’s anointed and be innocent? ’
