7 But the Lord said to Samuel, ‘Do not look at his appearance or his stature because I have rejected him. Humans do not see what the Lord sees,  for humans see what is visible, but the Lord sees the heart.’

No man in all Israel was as handsome  and highly praised as Absalom. From the sole of his foot to the top of his head, he did not have a single flaw.


What more can David say to you? You know your servant,  Lord God.


may you hear in heaven, your dwelling place, and may you forgive, act, and give to everyone according to all their ways, since you know each heart, for you alone know every human heart,


What more can David say to you for honouring your servant? You know your servant.


‘As for you, Solomon my son, know the God of your father, and serve him wholeheartedly and with a willing mind,  for the Lord searches every heart and understands the intention of every thought.  If you seek him, he will be found by you, but if you abandon him, he will reject you for ever.


For the eyes of the Lord roam throughout the earth  to show himself strong for those who are wholeheartedly devoted to him.  You have been foolish in this matter. Therefore, you will have wars from now on.’

All a person’s ways seem right to him, but the Lord weighs motives.  ,


If you say, ‘But we didn’t know about this,’ won’t he who weighs hearts  consider it? Won’t he who protects your life   know? Won’t he repay a person according to his work?


Charm is deceptive and beauty is fleeting, but a woman who fears the  Lord will be praised.


But, Lord of Armies, who judges righteously, who tests  heart  and mind, let me see your vengeance on them, for I have presented my case to you.


I, the Lord, examine the mind, I test the heart  , to give to each according to his way, according to what his actions deserve.

For it is said, ‘His letters are weighty and powerful, but his physical presence is weak and his public speaking amounts to nothing.’


Look at what is obvious.  If anyone is confident that he belongs to Christ,  let him remind himself of this: Just as he belongs to Christ, so do we.


No creature is hidden from him, but all things are naked and exposed to the eyes of him to whom  we must give an account.


As you come to him, a living stone #– #rejected by people but chosen and honoured by  God #– #


but rather what is inside the heart  ,  #– #the imperishable quality of a gentle  and quiet  spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight.
