let seven of his male descendants be handed over to us so we may hang  them in the presence of the Lord   at Gibeah of Saul,  the Lord’s chosen.’ The king answered, ‘I will hand them over.’


So the family heads of Judah and Benjamin, along with the priests and Levites #– #everyone whose spirit God had roused   #– #prepared to go up and rebuild the Lord’s house in Jerusalem.


They crossed over at the ford, saying, ‘We will spend the night at Geba.’ The people of Ramah are trembling; those at Gibeah of Saul have fled.


When the Gentiles heard this, they rejoiced and honoured the word of the Lord, and all who had been appointed to eternal life believed.


and rescued him out of all his troubles. He gave him favour and wisdom in the sight of Pharaoh, king of Egypt, who appointed him ruler over Egypt and over his whole household.


Zela, Haeleph, Jebus  (that is, Jerusalem), Gibeah, and Kiriath   #– #fourteen cities, with their settlements. This was the inheritance for Benjamin’s descendants by their clans.


Instead, the Benjaminites gathered together from their cities to Gibeah to go out and fight against the Israelites.


When the messengers came to Gibeah,  Saul’s home town, and told the terms to the people, all wept aloud.


He chose three thousand men from Israel for himself: two thousand were with Saul at Michmash  and in Bethel’s hill country, and one thousand were with Jonathan in Gibeah  of Benjamin. He sent the rest of the troops away, each to his own tent.


Samuel went to Ramah,  and Saul went up to his home in Gibeah  of Saul.
