The power of the Lord   was on Elijah, and he tucked his mantle under his belt  and ran ahead of Ahab to the entrance of Jezreel.


So Elisha said to Gehazi, ‘Tuck your mantle  under your belt, take my staff with you, and go. If you meet anyone, don’t stop to greet him, and if a man greets you, don’t answer him.  Then place my staff on the boy’s face.’


Get ready to answer me like a man; when I question  you, you will inform me.

Here is how you must eat it: You must be dressed for travel,  your sandals on your feet, and your staff in your hand. You are to eat it in a hurry; it is the Lord’s Passover.


Righteousness will be a belt round his hips; faithfulness will be a belt round his waist.


‘Now, get ready. Stand up and tell them everything that I command you. Do not be intimidated by them  or I will cause you to cower before them.

‘Be ready for service   and have your lamps lit.


It   will be like that on the day the Son of Man is revealed.


Instead, will he not tell him, “Prepare something for me to eat, get ready, and serve me while I eat and drink; later you can eat and drink”?


Let us walk with decency,  as in the daytime: not in carousing and drunkenness;  not in sexual impurity and promiscuity; not in quarrelling and jealousy.


For the creation eagerly waits with anticipation  for God’s sons  to be revealed.


so that you do not lack any spiritual gift as you eagerly wait  for the revelation  of our Lord Jesus Christ.


Now these three remain: faith, hope,  and love #– #but the greatest of these is love.


Stand,  therefore, with truth  like a belt round your waist, righteousness  like armour on your chest,


When Christ, who is your  life, appears,  then you also will appear with him in glory.


and to give relief to you who are afflicted, along with us. This will take place at the revelation of the Lord Jesus from heaven with his powerful angels,


But as for you, exercise self-control in everything, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist,  fulfil your ministry.


There is reserved for me the crown  of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge,  will give me on that day, and not only to me, but to all those who have loved his appearing.  ,


So don’t throw away your confidence, which has a great reward.


But Christ was faithful as a Son over his household. And we are that household if we hold on to our confidence and the hope in which we boast.  ,


We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure. It enters the inner sanctuary behind the curtain.


so also Christ, having been offered once to bear the sins of many,  will appear a second time,  not to bear sin, but  to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him.


Concerning this salvation, the prophets,  who prophesied about the grace that would come to you, searched and carefully investigated.


but in your hearts regard  Christ  the Lord as holy, ready at any time to give a defence to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you.


The end of all things is near;  therefore, be alert and sober-minded  for prayer.


Through Silvanus,  , a faithful brother (as I consider him), I have written to you briefly in order to encourage you and to testify that this is the true grace of God. Stand firm in it!


Be sober-minded,  be alert.  Your adversary the devil  is prowling around like a roaring lion, looking for anyone he can devour.


And everyone who has this hope  in him purifies himself just as he is pure.
