Because of all this, I am about to bring disaster on the house of Jeroboam: I will wipe out all of Jeroboam’s males, both slave and free,  in Israel; I will sweep away the house of Jeroboam as one sweeps away dung until it is all gone!

This was because Jeroboam had angered  the Lord God of Israel by the sins he had committed and had caused Israel to commit.

take note: I will eradicate Baasha and his house, and I will make your house like the house of Jeroboam son of Nebat:

When Jehu came to Samaria, he struck down all who remained from the house of Ahab in Samaria until he had annihilated his house, according to the word of the Lord spoken to Elijah.

Nevertheless, the Lord said to Jehu, ‘Because you have done well in carrying out what is right in my sight and have done to the house of Ahab all that was in my heart, four generations of your sons will sit on the throne of Israel.’

For the Lord saw that the affliction of Israel was very bitter  for both slaves and free people.  There was no one to help Israel.

I will stretch over Jerusalem the measuring line used on Samaria and the mason’s level used on the house of Ahab,  and I will wipe  Jerusalem clean as one wipes a bowl #– #wiping it and turning it upside down.

Woe to the wicked #– #it will go badly for them, for what they have done will be done to them.

The Lord will indeed vindicate his people and have compassion on his servants when he sees that their strength is gone and no one is left #– #slave or free.

May God punish me  and do so severely  if I let any of his males  survive until morning.’

Otherwise, as surely as the Lord God of Israel lives, who prevented me from harming you, if you had not come quickly to meet me, Nabal wouldn’t have had any males  left by morning light.’
