12 But when I leave you, the Spirit of the Lord may carry you off  to some place I don’t know. Then when I go and report to Ahab and he doesn’t find you, he will kill me. But I, your servant, have feared the Lord from my youth.

‘Now you say, “Go and tell your lord, ‘Elijah is here! ’ ”


As they continued walking and talking, a chariot of fire with horses of fire  suddenly appeared and separated the two of them. Then Elijah went up into heaven in the whirlwind.


Then the sons of the prophets said to Elisha, ‘Since there are fifty strong men here with your servants, please let them go and search for your master. Maybe the Spirit of the Lord has carried him away and put him on one of the mountains or into one of the valleys.’ He answered, ‘Don’t send them.’


In the eighth year of his reign, while he was still a youth, Josiah began to seek the God of his ancestor David,  and in the twelfth year he began to cleanse Judah and Jerusalem of the high places, the Asherah poles, the carved images,  and the cast images.


To fear the Lord is to hate evil. I hate arrogant pride, evil conduct, and perverse speech.


It is good that you grasp the one and do not let the other slip from your hand. For the one who fears God will end up with both of them.


Who among you fears the  Lord and listens to his servant? Who among you walks in darkness, and has no light? Let him trust in the name of the  Lord; let him lean on his God.


The Spirit lifted me up  and brought me to Chaldea and to the exiles in a vision from the Spirit of God. After the vision I had seen left me,


The hand of the Lord was on me,  and he brought me out by his Spirit  and set me down in the middle of the valley; it was full of bones.


He stretched out what appeared to be a hand and took me by the hair of my head. Then the Spirit lifted me up between earth and heaven and carried me in visions of God  to Jerusalem, to the entrance of the inner gate that faces north, where the offensive statue that provokes jealousy  was located.


Then Herod, when he realised that he had been outwitted by the wise men, flew into a rage. He gave orders to massacre all the boys in and around Bethlehem who were two years old and under, in keeping with the time he had learned from the wise men.


Then  Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil.


For he will be great in the sight of the Lord and will never drink wine or beer.  He will be filled with the Holy Spirit  while still in his mother’s womb.


After Herod had searched and did not find him, he interrogated the guards and ordered their execution. Then Herod went down from Judea to Caesarea and stayed there.


When they came up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord  carried Philip away, and the eunuch did not see him any longer but went on his way rejoicing.


and you know that from infancy you have known the sacred Scriptures,  which are able to give you wisdom for salvation  through faith in Christ Jesus.


Samuel asked, ‘How can I go? Saul will hear about it and kill me! ’ The Lord answered, ‘Take a young cow with you and say, “I have come to sacrifice to the Lord.”


Samuel served in the Lord’s presence   #– #this mere boy was dressed in the linen ephod.


By contrast, the boy Samuel grew in stature and in favour with the Lord and with people.
