45 The priest Zadok and the prophet Nathan have anointed him king in Gihon.  They have gone up from there rejoicing. The town has been in an uproar; that’s the noise you heard.

All the people went up after him, playing flutes and rejoicing with such a great joy  that the earth split open from the sound.


And with Solomon, the king has sent the priest Zadok, the prophet Nathan, Benaiah son of Jehoiada, the Cherethites, and the Pelethites, and they have had him ride on the king’s mule.


When Ahijah heard the sound of her feet entering the door, he said, ‘Come in, wife of Jeroboam! Why are you disguised?  I have bad news for you.


The people could not distinguish the sound of the joyful shouting from that of the  weeping,  because the people were shouting so loudly. And the sound was heard far away.


Then Saul asked her, ‘What does he look like? ’ ‘An old man is coming up,’ she replied. ‘He’s wearing a robe.’  Then Saul knew that it was Samuel, and he knelt low with his face to the ground and paid homage.


When the ark of the covenant of the Lord entered the camp, all the Israelites raised such a loud shout that the ground shook.
