I will make you into a great nation, I will bless you, I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing.


From there he moved on to the hill country east of Bethel and pitched his tent, with Bethel on the west and Ai on the east. He built an altar to the Lord there, and he called on the name of the Lord.


Then Jacob made a vow:  ‘If God will be with me and watch over me during this journey I’m making, if he provides me with food to eat and clothing to wear,


and if I return safely to my father’s family,  then the Lord will be my God.


Then he said to Jacob, ‘Let me go, for it is daybreak.’ But Jacob said, ‘I will not let you go unless you bless me.’


‘What is your name? ’ the man asked. ‘Jacob,’ he replied.


‘Your name will no longer be Jacob,’  he said. ‘It will be Israel  because you have struggled with God  and with men and have prevailed.’


And he set up an altar there and called it God, the God of Israel.

Let love be without hypocrisy.  Detest evil;  cling to what is good.


The report of your obedience has reached everyone.  Therefore I rejoice over you, but I want you to be wise about what is good, and yet innocent about what is evil.


To the church of God at Corinth,  to those sanctified  in Christ Jesus, called  as saints, with all those in every place who call on the name  of Jesus Christ our Lord #– #both their Lord and ours.


Blessed is the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavens in Christ.


Now to him who is able  to do above and beyond all that we ask or think  according to the power  that works in us #– #


And don’t grieve God’s Holy Spirit.  You were sealed by him  for the day of redemption.


The Lord will rescue me from every evil work and will bring me safely into his heavenly kingdom.  To him be the glory for ever and ever! Amen.


As many as I love, I rebuke and discipline.   So be zealous and repent.
