‘As for me, I am going the way of all of the earth.  Be strong and be a man,


and keep your obligation to the Lord your God to walk in his ways and to keep his statutes, commands, ordinances, and decrees. This is written in the law of Moses, so that you will have success in everything you do  and wherever you turn,


Realise now that the Lord has chosen you to build a house for the sanctuary. Be strong, and do it.’


Then David said to his son Solomon, ‘Be strong and courageous,  and do the work. Don’t be afraid or discouraged, for the Lord God, my God, is with you. He won’t leave you or abandon you  until all the work for the service of the Lord’s house is finished.


I will establish his kingdom for ever if he perseveres in keeping my commands and my ordinances as he is doing today.”


Because the land experienced peace, Asa built fortified cities in Judah.  No one made war with him in those days because the Lord gave him rest.


In the morning they got up early and went out to the wilderness of Tekoa. As they were about to go out, Jehoshaphat stood and said, ‘Hear me, Judah and you inhabitants of Jerusalem. Believe in the Lord your God, and you will be established;  believe in his prophets, and you will succeed.’


He sought God  throughout the lifetime of Zechariah, the teacher of the fear  , of God. During the time that he sought the Lord, God gave him success.


‘Be strong and courageous!  Don’t be afraid or discouraged before the king of Assyria or before the large army that is with him, for there are more with us than with him.


Even so, be strong, Zerubbabel #– #this is the Lord’s declaration.  Be strong, Joshua son of Jehozadak, high priest. Be strong, all you people of the land #– #this is the Lord’s declaration. Work! For I am with you   #– #the declaration of the Lord of Armies.


The Lord of Armies says this: ‘Let your hands be strong, you who now hear these words that the prophets spoke when the foundations were laid for the rebuilding of the temple, the house of the Lord of Armies.


Jesus answered him, ‘Allow it for now, because this is the way for us to fulfil all righteousness.’ Then John allowed him to be baptised.


After removing him,  he raised up David as their king and testified about him, “I have found David the son of Jesse to be a man after my own heart,  , who will carry out all my will.”


Be alert, stand firm in the faith,  be courageous,  be strong.


Carry one another’s burdens; in this way you will fulfil the law of Christ.


Finally, be strengthened by the Lord and by his vast strength.


You, therefore, my son, be strong in the grace  that is in Christ Jesus.


Indeed, if you fulfil the royal law prescribed in the Scripture, Love your neighbour as yourself,  , you are doing well.


Anyone who rebels against your order and does not obey your words in all that you command him, will be put to death. Above all, be strong and courageous! ’
