If I say: "By no means will I speak this way." I change my face and I am tortured with sorrow.


Grief in the heart of a man humbles him. And with a good word he shall be made glad.


to take up the mourners of Zion and to give them a crown in place of ashes, an oil of joy in place of mourning, a cloak of praise in place of a spirit of grief. And there, they shall be called the strong ones of justice, the planting of the Lord, unto glorification.


Come to me, all you who labor and have been burdened, and I will refresh you.


And taking with him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, he began to be sorrowful and saddened.


Then Paul responded by saying: "What do you accomplish by weeping and afflicting my heart? For I am prepared, not only to be bound, but also to die in Jerusalem, for the name of the Lord Jesus."


For I long to see you, so that I may impart to you a certain spiritual grace to strengthen you,


Rejoice with those who are rejoicing. Weep with those who are weeping.


because the sadness within me is great, and there is a continuous sorrow in my heart.


And so, if one part suffers anything, all the parts suffer with it. Or, if one part finds glory, all the parts rejoice with it.


and they offer prayers for you, being solicitous about you, because of the excellent grace of God within you.


Carry one another's burdens, and so shall you fulfill the law of Christ.


Because of this, I ask you not to be weakened by my tribulations on your behalf; for this is your glory.


I give thanks to my God, with every remembrance of you,


For God is my witness how, within the heart of Jesus Christ, I long for all of you.


Now I have considered it necessary to send to you Epaphroditus, my brother, and co-worker, and fellow soldier, and an attendant to my needs, but your Apostle.


For he was sick, even unto death, but God took pity on him, and not only on him, but truly on myself also, so that I would not have sorrow upon sorrow.


And so, my most beloved and most desired brothers, my joy and my crown: stand firm in this way, in the Lord, most beloved.


In this, you should exult, if now, for a brief time, it is necessary to be made sorrowful by various trials,
