And upon hearing this very bad news, the people mourned; and no one put on his finery according to custom.


The foolishness of a man undermines his steps. And then he seethes in his soul against God.


Lord, they have sought you in anguish. Your doctrine was with them, amid the tribulation of murmuring.


Therefore, say to them: As I live, says the Lord, as you spoke in my hearing, so will I do to you.


But only Joshua the son of Nun, and Caleb the son of Jephunneh remained alive, out of all those who had journeyed to examine the land.


But the sons of the kingdom shall be cast into the outer darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth."


For you know that afterwards, when he desired to inherit the benediction, he was rejected. For he found no place for repentance, even though he had sought it with tears.


Israel is not able to stand before his enemies, and he will flee from them. For he has been defiled by what is anathema. I will be no longer be with you, until you destroy him who is guilty of this wickedness.
