Yet I had planted you [O house of Israel] a choice vine, wholly of pure seed. How then have you turned into degenerate shoots of wild vine alien to Me?


For it is like a man who was about to take a long journey, and he called his servants together and entrusted them with his property.


He therefore said, A certain nobleman went into a distant country to obtain for himself a kingdom and then to return.


When the [right] season came, he sent a bond servant to the tenants, that they might give him [his part] of the fruit of the vineyard; but the tenants beat (thrashed) him and sent him away empty-handed.


Then Jesus said to them, Neither will I tell you by what authority I do these things.


You shall appoint judges and officers in all your towns which the Lord your God gives you, according to your tribes, and they shall judge the people with righteous judgment.
