³ H1732And DavidH3212went[H8799] H4708thence to MizpehH4124of MoabH559: and he said[H8799] H4428unto the kingH4124of MoabH1, Let my fatherH517and my motherH3318, I pray thee, come forth[H8799] H3045, and be with you, till I know[H8799] H430what GodH6213will do[H8799]  for me.

⁴ H5148And he brought[H8686] H6440them beforeH4428the kingH4124of MoabH3427: and they dwelt[H8799] H3117with him all the whileH1732that DavidH4686was in the hold.

⁵ H5030And the prophetH1410GadH559said[H8799] H1732unto DavidH3427, Abide[H8799] H4686not in the holdH3212; depart[H8798] H935, and get[H8804] H776thee into the landH3063of JudahH1732. Then DavidH3212departed[H8799] H935, and came[H8799] H3293into the forestH2802of Hareth.

¹⁰ H7592And he enquired[H8799] H3068of the LORDH5414for him, and gave[H8804] H6720him victualsH5414, and gave[H8804] H2719him the swordH1555of GoliathH6430the Philistine.

¹¹ H4428Then the kingH7971sent[H8799] H7121to call[H8800] H288AhimelechH3548the priestH1121, the sonH285of AhitubH1, and all his father'sH1004houseH3548, the priestsH5011that were in NobH935: and they came[H8799] H4428all of them to the king.

¹² H7586And SaulH559said[H8799] H8085, Hear[H8798] H1121now, thou sonH285of AhitubH559. And he answered[H8799] H113, Here I am, my lord.

¹³ H7586And SaulH559said[H8799] H7194unto him, Why have ye conspired[H8804] H1121against me, thou and the sonH3448of JesseH5414, in that thou hast given[H8800] H3899him breadH2719, and a swordH7592, and hast enquired[H8800] H430of GodH6965for him, that he should rise[H8800] H693against me, to lie in wait[H8802] H3117, as at this day?

¹⁴ H288Then AhimelechH6030answered[H8799] H4428the kingH559, and said[H8799] H539, And who is so faithful[H8737] H5650among all thy servantsH1732as DavidH4428, which is the king'sH2860son in lawH5493, and goeth[H8804] H4928at thy biddingH3513, and is honourable[H8737] H1004in thine house?

¹⁵ H3117Did I thenH2490begin[H8689] H7592to enquire[H8800] H430of GodH2486for him? be it far from meH4428: let not the kingH7760impute[H8799] H1697any thingH5650unto his servantH1004, nor to all the houseH1of my fatherH5650: for thy servantH3045knew[H8804] H1697nothingH6996of all this, lessH1419or more.

¹⁶ H4428And the kingH559said[H8799] H4191, Thou shalt surely[H8800] H4191die[H8799] H288, AhimelechH1, thou, and all thy father'sH1004house.

¹⁷ H4428And the kingH559said[H8799] H7323unto the footmen[H8801] H5324that stood[H8737] H5437about him, Turn[H8798] H4191, and slay[H8685] H3548the priestsH3068of the LORDH3027; because their handH1732also is with DavidH3045, and because they knew[H8804] H1272when he fled[H8802] H1540, and did not shew[H8804] H241 H5650it to me. But the servantsH4428of the kingH14would[H8804] H7971not put forth[H8800] H3027their handH6293to fall[H8800] H3548upon the priestsH3068of the LORD.

¹⁸ H4428And the kingH559said[H8799] H1673to DoegH5437, Turn[H8798] H6293thou, and fall[H8798] H3548upon the priestsH1673. And DoegH130the EdomiteH5437turned[H8735] H6293, and he fell[H8799] H3548upon the priestsH4191, and slew[H8686] H3117on that dayH8084fourscoreH2568and fiveH376personsH5375that did wear[H8802] H906a linenH646ephod.

¹⁹ H5011And NobH5892, the cityH3548of the priestsH5221, smote[H8689] H6310he with the edgeH2719of the swordH376, both menH802and womenH5768, childrenH3243and sucklings[H8802] H7794, and oxenH2543, and assesH7716, and sheepH6310, with the edgeH2719of the sword.

²⁰ H259And oneH1121of the sonsH288of AhimelechH1121the sonH285of AhitubH8034, namedH54AbiatharH4422, escaped[H8735] H1272, and fled[H8799] H310afterH1732David.

²¹ H54And AbiatharH5046shewed[H8686] H1732DavidH7586that SaulH2026had slain[H8804] H3068the LORD'SH3548priests.

²² H1732And DavidH559said[H8799] H54unto AbiatharH3045, I knew[H8804] H3117it that dayH1673, when DoegH130the EdomiteH5046was there, that he would surely[H8687] H5046tell[H8686] H7586SaulH5437: I have occasioned[H8804] H5315the death of all the personsH1of thy father'sH1004house.

²³ H3427Abide[H8798] H3372thou with me, fear[H8799] H1245not: for he that seeketh[H8762] H5315my lifeH1245seeketh[H8762] H5315thy lifeH4931: but with me thou shalt be in safeguard.
