Psalm 41 - Easy To Read Version

¹ A person who helps poor people succeed\par will get many blessings. {\cf2\super [256]} \par When trouble comes,\par the Lord will save that person.\par

² The Lord will protect that person\par and save his life.\par That person will be blessed on earth.\par God will not let that person’s enemies destroy him.\par

³ When that person is sick and in bed,\par the Lord will give him strength.\par That person may be sick in bed,\par but the Lord will make him well!\par

⁴ I said, “Lord, be kind to me.\par I sinned against you,\par but forgive me and make me well.”\par

⁵ My enemies say bad things about me.\par They are saying,\par “When will he die and be forgotten?”\par

⁶ People come to visit me,\par but they don’t say\par what they are really thinking.\par They come just to get some news about me,\par Then they go and spread their rumors. {\cf2\super [257]} \par

⁷ My enemies whisper bad things about me.\par They are plotting against me.\par

⁸ They say,\par “He did something wrong.\par That is why he is sick.\par I hope he never gets well.”\par

⁹ My best friend ate with me.\par I trusted him.\par But now, even he has turned against me.\par

¹⁰ So, Lord, please be kind to me.\par Let me get up,\par and I will pay them back.\par

¹¹ Lord, don’t let my enemy hurt me.\par Then I will know\par that you didn’t send them to hurt me.\par

¹² I was innocent and you supported me.\par You let me stand and serve you forever.\par

¹³ Bless the Lord, God of Israel!\par He always was,\par and he always will be.\par
