Job 40 - Easy To Read Version1 The Lord answered Job and said to him:\par 2 “Job, you argued with God All-Powerful.\par You judged me guilty of doing wrong.\par Now, will you admit that you are wrong?\par Will you answer me!”\par 3 Then Job answered God and said:\par 4 “I am too insignificant to speak!\par What can I say to you?\par I can’t answer you!\par I will put my hand over my mouth.\par 5 I spoke once,\par but I won’t speak again.\par I spoke twice,\par but I won’t say anything more.”\par 6 Then the Lord spoke to Job again from the storm. The Lord said:\par 7 “\{Job,\} brace yourself {\cf2\super [96]} \par and get ready to answer the questions\par that I will ask you.\par 8 “Job, do you think that I am not fair?\par You say that I am guilty of doing wrong\par so that you will appear innocent!\par 9 Are your arms as strong as God’s arm?\par Do you have a voice like God’s voice\par that can sound loud like thunder?\par 10 If you are like God,\par then you can be proud.\par If you are like God\par then you can wear glory and honor\par like clothes.\par 11 If you are like God,\par then you can show your anger\par and punish proud people.\par Make those proud people humble.\par 12 Yes, Job! Look at those proud people\par and make them humble.\par Crush evil people where they stand.\par 13 Bury all the proud people in the dirt.\par Wrap their bodies up\par and put them in their graves.\par 14 Job, if you can do all these things,\par then even I will praise you.\par And I will admit that you are able\par to save yourself with your own power.\par 15 “Job, look at the behemoth. {\cf2\super [97]} \par I (God) made the behemoth\par and I made you.\par The behemoth eats grass like a cow.\par 16 The behemoth has much strength\par in his body.\par The muscles in his stomach are very powerful.\par 17 The behemoth’s tail stands strong\par like a cedar tree.\par His leg muscles are very strong.\par 18 The behemoth’s bones are strong\par like bronze.\par His legs are like iron bars.\par 19 The behemoth is the most amazing animal\par that I (God) made.\par But I can defeat him.\par 20 The behemoth eats the grass\par that grows on the hills\par where the wild animals play.\par 21 The behemoth lies under the lotus plants. {\cf2\super [98]} \par The behemoth hides in the reeds\par in the swamp.\par 22 The lotus plants hide the behemoth\par in their shade.\par He lives under the willow trees\par that grow near the river.\par 23 If the river floods,\par the behemoth will not run away.\par He is not afraid\par if the Jordan River splashes on his face.\par 24 No person can blind the behemoth’s eyes\par |
