Moses said to Joshua, “Choose men for us, and go out to fight with Amalek. Tomorrow I will stand on the top of the hill with God’s rod in my hand.”
The word of YHWH that came to Hosea the son of Beeri, in the days of Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah, kings of Judah, and in the days of Jeroboam the son of Joash, king of Israel.
“You are to send men to may spy on the land of Canaan, which I give to the children of Israel. From every ancestral tribe, y’all are to send a leader from among them.”
Y’all will not enter the land that I swore with uplifted hand to make y’all’s dwelling place, except Caleb the son of Jephunneh, and Joshua the son of Nun.
Joshua the son of Nun and Caleb the son of Jephunneh, who were of those who spied out the land, tore their clothes.
YHWH said to Moses, “Take Joshua the son of Nun, a man in whom is the Spirit, and lay your hand on him.
Our ancestors, having received the tabernacle, brought it in with Joshua when they dispossessed from the ethnic groups whom God drove out before the face of them until the days of David,
As he says also in Hosea, “I will call those who were not my people, ‘my people’ and her who was not beloved, ‘beloved.’”
Moses came with Joshua the son of Nun and recited all the words of this song in the ears of the people.
For if Joshua had given them rest, he would not have spoken later about another day.
