Now the serpent was more crafty than any animal of the field which YHWH God had made. He said to the woman, “Has God really said, ‘Y’all must not eat of any tree of the garden’?”


So YHWH God said to the woman, “What have you done?” The woman said, “The serpent deceived me, and I ate.”


Therefore I set guards in the lowest parts of the space behind the wall, in the open places. I set the people by family groups with their swords, their spears, and their bows.


But Gedaliah the son of Ahikam said to Johanan the son of Kareah, “You must not do this thing, for you speak falsely of Ishmael.”


“Ephraim is like an easily deceived dove, without understanding. They call to Egypt. They go to Assyria.


“See, I have told y’all beforehand.


“Who then is the faithful and wise servant, whom the master has set over the household, to give them their food in due season?


Five of them were foolish, and five were wise.


The wise ones, however, took oil in jars with their lamps.


But the wise ones answered, ‘What if there isn’t enough for us and y’all? Instead, y’all go to the oil sellers and buy some for yourself*.’


Y’all go! I am sending y’all out as lambs among wolves.


because I will give y’all such words and wisdom that all y’all’s adversaries will not be able to resist or refute.


For I know that after my departure, vicious wolves will come in among y’all, not sparing the flock.


Siblings, don’t y’all be children in your thinking. Instead, y’all must be babies in evil, but mature in y’all’s thinking.


Now this is our boast: the testimony of our conscience is that we have conducted ourselves in the world, and especially toward y’all, with godly integrity and sincerity, not by fleshly wisdom but by the grace of God.


And no wonder! For even Satan masquerades as an angel of light.


But I fear that as the serpent deceived Eve by his cunning, so y’all’s minds might be corrupted from sincere and pure devotion to Christ.


taking precaution so that no one will find any fault in the way we are administering this large gift.


so that y’all may become blameless and harmless, “children of God without defect in the middle of a crooked and perverse generation,” among whom you shine as lights in the world,


For this reason, since the day we heard it, we haven’t stopped praying for y’all and asking that y’all would be filled with the knowledge of his will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding,


Y’all must walk in wisdom toward outsiders, redeeming every opportunity.


Y’all are witnesses, and so is God, of how holy, righteous, and blameless we were among y’all who believe.


Y’all must stay away from every form of evil.
