Jesus spoke all these things to the crowds in parables, and he did not speak to them without a parable.
When he was alone, those around him and the twelve asked him about the parables.
With many parables like these he spoke the word to them, as much as they were able to hear it.
And beginning with Moses and all the prophets, he explained to them the things written about himself in all the Scriptures.
Jesus shared this parable to them, but they didn’t understand what he was saying to them.
“I have told y’all these things using figures of speech. But the time is coming when I won’t use figures of speech, but will tell y’all plainly about the Father.
After appointing a day for him, they came to his lodging in even larger numbers. He explained to them from morning until evening, testifying about the Empire of God, working to persuade them about Jesus from the law of Moses and the prophets.
