To do righteousness and justice is more acceptable to YHWH than sacrifice.
For I desire mercy, and not sacrifice; and the knowledge of God more than burnt offerings.

You are to love YHWH your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength.
Above he first says, “Sacrifices and offerings and whole burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin you did not desire, nor were you pleased with them” (though they were offered in accordance with the law).
