Abel also brought some of the firstborn of his flock and of its fat. YHWH respected Abel and his offering,


Now therefore, if y’all will listen-listen to my voice and keep my covenant, then y’all will be my own possession from among all peoples. Although all the earth is mine,


To do righteousness and justice is more acceptable to YHWH than sacrifice.


Guard your steps when you go to God’s house; for to draw near to listen is better than to give the sacrifice of fools, for they don’t know that they do evil.


which I commanded y’all’s ancestors in the day that I brought them out of the land of Egypt, out of the iron furnace,’ saying, ‘Y’all must listen to my voice and do all that I command y’all, so that y’all will be my people, and I will be y’all’s God.


For I earnestly protested to y’all’s ancestors in the day that I brought them up out of the land of Egypt until today day, rising early and warning, “Y’all must listen my voice.”


Now y’all must reform your* ways and your* deeds, and obey the voice of YHWH y’all’s God. Then YHWH will relent from the disaster ʜᴇ has pronounced against y’all.


For I desire mercy, and not sacrifice; and the knowledge of God more than burnt offerings.
