Pride only breeds quarrels, but wisdom is with people who take advice.


When the ten heard this, they were indignant with the two brothers.


Jesus summoned them and said to them, “Y’all know that those who are recognized as rulers over the ethnic groups lord it over them, and their great ones exercise authority over them.


A dispute also arose among them as to which of them was to be considered the greatest.


But Jesus said to them, “The kings of the ethnic groups lord it over them, and those who have authority over them are called ‘Benefactors.’


Be devoted to one another with mutual love and honor one another above yourselves,


Y’all must not act out of selfishness or vanity, but in humility, put others ahead of yourselves*,


Or do y’all think that the Scripture says in vain, “The Spirit who lives in us yearns jealously”?
