Pride only breeds quarrels, but wisdom is with people who take advice.


He said to them, “Y’all will indeed drink my cup, but to sit on my right or left is not mine to give. Rather, it is for those whom it has been prepared by my Father.”


But Jesus called them and said, “Y’all know that the rulers of the ethnic groups lord it over them, and their high officials exercise authority over them.


When Jesus saw this, he was indignant and said to them, “Y’all let the little children to come to me! Don’t y’all stop them, for the Empire of God belongs to such as these.


When the ten heard this, they began to feel indignant toward James and John.


But the ruler of the synagogue was indignant that Jesus had healed on the Sabbath, and he said to the crowd, “There are six days when work should be done. So y’all should come and be healed on those days, not the Sabbath day!”


Love is patient. Love is kind and not envious. Love doesn’t brag, and it isn’t arrogant.


Y’all must not act out of selfishness or vanity, but in humility, put others ahead of yourselves*,


But if y’all have bitter jealousy and selfish ambition in your* heart, y’all must not boast or lie against the truth.


Likewise, y’all who are younger, be subject to the elders. All y’all should clothe yourselves in humility toward one another, for “God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble.”
