Then he said, “Do you know why I have come to you? Now I will return to fight with the prince of Persia. When I leave, then the prince of Greece will come.
“After you, another kingdom will arise that is inferior to you. Next, a third kingdom of bronze will rule over all the earth.
“The first was like a lion, and had eagle’s wings. I watched until its wings were plucked, and it was lifted up from the earth and made to stand on two feet as a man. A man’s heart was given to it.
“Suddenly, there was another animal, a second, like a bear. It was raised up on one side, and three ribs were in its mouth between its teeth. They said this to it: ‘Arise! Devour much flesh!’
Therefore I am like a lion to them. Like a leopard, I will lurk by the path.
The beast that I saw resembled a leopard, and his feet were like a bear’s, and its mouth like the mouth of a lion. The dragon gave him his power, his throne, and great authority.
