Yet they tempted and rebelled against the Most High God, and didn’t keep ʜɪꜱ testimonies,


Their priests fell by the sword, and their widows couldn’t weep.


Woe to the wicked! Disaster is upon them, for the deeds of their hands will be paid back to them.


“But now y’all must go to my place which was in Shiloh, where I caused my name to dwell at the first, and see what I did to it for the wickedness of my people Israel.


Look, the days come that I will cut off your arm and the arm of your father’s house, that there will not be an old man in your house.


You will see the trouble of my dwelling. Israel will have blessing, but there will not no men who reach old age in your family.


This will be the sign to you that will come on your two sons, on Hophni and Phinehas: in one day they will both die.


In that day I will perform against Eli all that I have spoken concerning his house, from the beginning even to the end.


She named the child Ichabod, saying, “The glory has departed from Israel!” because the ark of God was taken, and because of her father-in-law and her husband.
