¶ It is said, whosoever put away his wife, let him give her a testimonial of her divorcement.

It hath been said, Whosoever shall put away his wife, let him give her a writing of divorcement:

It has also been said, Whoever divorces his wife must give her a certificate of divorce.

It was said also, Whosoever shall put away his wife, let him give her a writing of divorcement:

“It was said, ‘Whoever divorces his wife must give her a divorce certificate.’

And it has been said: 'Whoever would dismiss his wife, let him give her a bill of divorce.'

And it hath been said, Whoseoever shall put away his wife, let him give her a bill of divorce.

¶ Then came unto him the pharises to tempt him, and said to him: Is it lawful for a man to put away his wife for all manner of causes?

Then said they to him: why did Moses command to give unto her a testimonial of divorcement, and to put her away?
