saying: areede to us Christ, who is he that smote thee?


and spitted upon him, and took the reed and smote him on the head.


But I say to you, that ye withstand not wrong. But if a man give thee a blow on thy right cheek, turn to him the other.


and they shall mock him, and scourge him and spit upon him, and kill him, and the third day he shall rise again.


And some began to spit at him, and to cover his face, and to beat him with their fists, and to say unto him, aread unto us. And the servants buffeted him on the face.


And they smote him on the head with a reed, and spat upon him, and kneeled down and worshipped him.


When he had thus spoken, one of the ministers which stood by, smote Iesus on the face saying: Answerest thou the high priest so?


and said: hail king of the jewes. And they smote him on the face.


We are evil spoken of, and we pray. We are made as it were the filthiness of the world, the offscouring of all things, even unto this time.


looking unto Iesus, the author and finisher of our faith, which for the joy that was set before him, abode the cross, and despised the shame, and is set down on the right hand of the throne of God.
