¶ But whereunto shall I liken this generation? it is like unto children, which sit in the market, and call unto their fellows,


For Ihon came, neither eating nor drinking, and they say, he hath the devil.


And Iesus said unto them: can the wedding children mourn as long as the bridegroom is with them? The time will come, when the bridegroom shall be taken from them, and then shall they fast.


¶ And when Iesus came into the ruler's house, and saw the minstrels and the people wondering, he said unto them:


¶ The elder brother was in the field, and when he came and drew nye to the house, he heard minstrelsy, and dancing,


¶ There followed him a great company of people, and of women, which women bewailed, and lamented him.


They are like unto children sitting in the market place, and crying one to another, and saying: We have piped unto you, and ye have not danced: We have mourned to you, and ye have not wept.


Every body wept and sorrowed for her. And he said Weep not: for she is not dead, but sleepeth.
