But whosoever exalteth himself, shall be brought low. And he that submiteth himself, shall be exalted.


He hath shewed strength with his arm, he hath scattered them that are proud in the imagination of their hearts.


He hath put Down the mighty from their seats, and hath exalted them of low degree.


¶ Then said he also to him that had desired to him to dinner: When thou makest a dinner, or a supper: call not thy friends, nor thy brethren, neither thy kinsmen, nor yet rich neighbours: lest they bid thee again, and make thee recompense.


I tell you: this man departed home to his house justified more than the other. For every man that exalteth himself, shall be brought low: And he that humbleth himself, shall be exalted.


¶ Let the brother of low degree rejoice in that he is exalted,


Cast down yourselves before the Lord, and he shall lift you up.


¶ Likewise ye younger submit your selves unto the elder. Submit yourselves every man, one to another. Knit yourselves together in lowliness of mind. For God resisteth the proud and giveth grace to the humble.


Submit your selves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you, when the time is come.
