So then, what outcome did you have that you are now ashamed of? For the end of those things is death.
For sin’s payment is death, but God’s gracious gift is eternal life in Messiah Yeshua our Lord.
For when we were in the flesh, the sinful passions that came through the Torah were working in our body parts to bear fruit for death.
So then, brothers and sisters, we do not owe anything to the flesh, to live according to the flesh.
Rather, I punish my body and bring it into submission, so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified.
Now those who belong to Messiah have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.
For the one who sows in the flesh will reap corruption from the flesh. But the one who sows in the Ruach will reap from the Ruach eternal life.
With respect to your former lifestyle, you are to lay aside the old self corrupted by its deceitful desires,
Do not grieve the Ruach ha-Kodesh of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.
And do not get drunk on wine, for that is recklessness. Instead, be filled with the Ruach,
training us to deny ungodliness and worldly desires and to live in a manner that is self-controlled and righteous and godly in the present age.
Now that you have purified your souls in obedience to the truth, leading to sincere brotherly love, love one another fervently from a pure heart.
Loved ones, I urge you as strangers and sojourners to keep away from the fleshly cravings that war against the soul.
