Now when Ahab saw Elijah, Ahab said to him, “Is it you, the one who causes trouble for Israel?”
Ahab said to Elijah, “Have you found me, my enemy?” “I have found you,” he answered, “because you have sold yourself over to do what is evil in Adonai’s eyes.
Then Zedekiah son of Chenaanah approached Micaiah, struck him on the cheek and said, “Which way did the Ruach Adonai pass from me to speak to you?”
and say, “Thus says the king: ‘Put this fellow in the prison, and feed him only bread and water until I return safely.’”
But they mocked the messengers of God and despised His words, and scoffed at His prophets until the wrath of Adonai rose against His people, until there was no remedy.
Behold, happy is the one whom God corrects, so do not despise the discipline of Shaddai.
A wise son heeds his father’s discipline, but a scoffer does not listen to rebuke.
Do not speak in the ears of a fool, for he will disdain the wisdom of your words.
But they were silent, and did not answer him a word, for the king’s commandment was, “Do not answer him.”
