Indeed, the light of the wicked is snuffed out; the flame of his fire does not shine.


“How often is the lamp of the wicked snuffed out or calamity fallen on them? How often does He allot pain in His anger?


Or those trusting in their wealth, boasting about their great riches?


The light of the righteous shines brightly. The lamp of the wicked is snuffed out.


Whoever curses his father or his mother, his lamp will be snuffed out in utter darkness.


“Then the kingdom of heaven will be like ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom.


Then all those virgins got up and trimmed their lamps.


But the wise ones replied, ‘No, there won’t be enough for us and for you. Instead, go to those who sell, and buy some for yourselves.’


and do not think that you can say to yourselves, ‘We have Abraham as our father’! For I tell you that from these stones God can raise up children for Abraham.


“Have your belt strapped on and lamps burning.


So he cried out and said, ‘Father Abraham, have mercy on me! And send Lazarus so he may dip the tip of his finger in water and cool off my tongue, because I am suffering torment in this flame.’


So pay attention how you listen. For whoever has, to him more will be given. And whoever does not have, even what he supposes he has will be taken away from him.”


Simon replied, “Pray for me, so that none of what you have said may come upon me.”


Let us fear then! Though a promise of entering His rest is left open, some of you would seem to have fallen short.


Behold, I will cause those of the synagogue of satan—who say they are Jewish and are not, but lie—behold, I will cause them to come and bow down before your feet, so that they acknowledge that I have loved you!
