To his son I will give one tribe so that My servant David may have a lamp every day before Me in Jerusalem, the city that I chose for Myself to put My Name there.


“How often is the lamp of the wicked snuffed out or calamity fallen on them? How often does He allot pain in His anger?


when His lamp shone above my head, when by His light I walked through darkness;


Light shines in the darkness for the upright. Gracious, compassionate and just is he.


Light is sown for the righteous and gladness for the upright in heart.


Arrogance yields nothing but strife. Wisdom belongs to those who take advice.


A man’s riches may ransom his life, but a poor person hears no threat.


Whoever curses his father or his mother, his lamp will be snuffed out in utter darkness.


for the evil person has no future, and the lamp of the wicked will be snuffed out.


The path of the righteous is like the light of dawn, shining brighter and brighter until the full day.


When I extinguish you, I will cover the sky and darken the stars. I will cover the sun with cloud, and the moon will not give her light.


Why should our father’s name diminish from his family just because he had no son? Give to us property among our father’s brothers.”


Then the king said to his servants, ‘Tie him up hand and foot, and throw him into the outer darkness; in that place will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’


Now the foolish ones said to the wise, ‘Give us some of your oil, since our lamps are going out.’
