Haman boasted to them about his vast wealth, his many sons, and how the king had promoted him and exalted him above the other officials and servants of the king.


A rich person’s wealth is a strong city or like a high wall—in his imagination.


Thus says Adonai: “Let not the wise boast in his wisdom nor the mighty boast in his might nor the rich glory in his riches.


Now Ephraim has said: “How rich I have become! I found wealth by myself. I won’t be guilty of any sin with any of my property.”


For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world but forfeits his soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?


just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many.”


But the wise ones replied, ‘No, there won’t be enough for us and for you. Instead, go to those who sell, and buy some for yourselves.’


For what could a man give in exchange for his soul?


who gave Himself as a ransom for all—the testimony at the proper time.


You know that you were redeemed from the futile way of life handed down from your ancestors—not with perishable things such as silver or gold,
