Then He said, “I will most surely return to you in about a year’s time, surprisingly, Sarah your wife will have a son.” Sarah was listening at the entrance of the tent, which was behind Him.
So she said to Elijah, “What do I have to do with you, man of God? Have you come to me to remind me of my sin and kill my son?”
Then the woman said to Elijah, “Now I know that you are a man of God, and that the word in your mouth is truth.”
“How have I sinned,” he replied, “that you are giving your servant into the hand of Ahab, to put me to death?
Then the men of the city said to Elisha, “Look now, the situation of this city is pleasant, as my lord sees, but the water is bad and the land barren.”
“Call her,” he said. And when he had called her, she stood in the doorway.
Nevertheless, the woman conceived and bore a son during that season the following year, just as Elisha had told her.
“Did I ask my lord for a son?” she said. “Didn’t I say, ‘Don’t deceive me’?”
But the angel said, “Do not be afraid, Zechariah, because your prayer has been heard. Your wife, Elizabeth, will give birth to your son, and you will name him John.
