Saying, If we had lived in the days of our forefathers, we would not have aided them in shedding the blood of the prophets.

and say, If we had been in the days of our fathers, we should not have been partakers with them in the blood of the prophets.

You say, ‘If we had lived in our ancestors’ days, we wouldn’t have joined them in killing the prophets.’

And then you say, 'If we had been there in the days of our fathers, we would not have joined with them in the blood of the prophets.'

And say: If we had been in the days of our Fathers, we would not have been partakers with them in the blood of the prophets.

“Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you build the tombs of the prophets and adorn the graves of the righteous,

Therefore you bear witness against yourselves that you are the sons of those who murdered the prophets.

Consider those who belong to Israel according to the flesh: Are they not united by eating the sacrifices of the altar?

because we know that just as you share in our sufferings, so also you share in our comfort.
